Call answering service for businesses that can’t stop to pick up
A call answering service takes your incoming business calls when you're unavailable and handles them as your company would. CloudSecretary answers every call with a live receptionist in English or Spanish, 24/7/365, and sends you a written record of each one. Pricing is per answered call, from $49 a month.
- Answered by people, in English and Spanish

The calls you're losing are the ones you never hear about
A missed call doesn’t feel like anything. Nothing arrives, nothing beeps, nothing goes on a list. The customer who called while you were on a roof, in a meeting, or driving simply became someone else’s customer, and the only trace is a number you don’t recognize that you’ll mean to call back tomorrow.
That’s the whole problem with the phone as a channel: the failures are silent. Which is why most businesses badly underestimate how many of them there are — until they forward the line for a month and see the count.
What happens on a call we answer
The receptionist picks up with your greeting, in your company’s name. They work out what the caller needs, ask your qualifying questions and then take one of four routes:
- Message. Written up with who called, why, and what they need back. Sent by email, SMS or both, per team member.
- Booking. Straight into your calendar, confirmed with the caller before hanging up. How scheduling works.
- Live transfer. Only for the calls you’ve defined as worth it, with the caller introduced.
- Filtered. Sales pitches, wrong numbers and suppliers who can email — handled politely and kept off your list.
On-call rules that match how your business really works
"Urgent" means something different in every business, so it isn’t a setting we choose for you. You define it: the client name that always gets through, the value threshold, the hours when everything is urgent and the hours when nothing is, the phrases that mean stop-what-you’re-doing.
Then we follow it exactly, including the escalation ladder — try the first number, then the second, then the third, and log every attempt. If nobody answers, the caller is told the truth about what happens next rather than left with a promise we can’t keep.
What it costs, and what a "call" means
One answered call = one billable call, whatever we do on it. If a single call ends in a booking, a transfer and a follow-up message, that’s still one call. There are no per-action charges, no per-minute meter and no separate fee for Spanish.
Plans: Flex at $49 for occasional overflow, Essential at $119 for 25 calls, Business at $209 for 50 calls — the one most businesses land on — and up from there. Full pricing.
Spam calls, hang-ups under ten seconds and calls abandoned before we answer are not billed.
Built around small businesses
Most of the businesses we answer for have between one and twenty people, and in almost all of them the owner is still the one who picks up when nobody else can. What that looks like in practice, and the sectors we run separate scripts for.
Questions people ask
What is a call answering service?
A call answering service is a team that answers a business's incoming calls on its behalf, using the business's own greeting and instructions. Calls are turned into written messages, bookings or live transfers. The business keeps its phone number and decides which calls are forwarded.
How much does call answering cost per call?
It depends on the plan volume: on CloudSecretary, an answered call works out between roughly $3.25 and $6.90 depending on which plan you're on, with all in-call actions included. Providers who bill by the minute don't have a per-call figure, which makes forecasting harder.
Can you handle calls only when I don't answer?
Yes, and it's the most common setup. Your phone rings first; if nobody picks up within the ring count you choose, the call forwards to us. You only pay for the calls we actually answer.
Do you answer calls for on-call rotations?
Yes. You give us the rotation and the escalation order, and we work through it until we reach a human, logging every attempt. Emergency answering in detail.
